Concordium Launches Privacy-First ID for Age Checks Across Web2 and Web3
Concordium, a PayFi-enabled blockchain, has introduced Concordium ID, a mobile-first identity verification app designed to address age verification challenges without compromising user privacy. The application leverages zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to allow users to confirm they meet age thresholds without disclosing personal data.
CEO Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki emphasized the lack of viable age verification systems on the web, highlighting Concordium ID's potential to replace ineffective and privacy-invasive solutions. The app creates a single, encrypted ID usable across websites and decentralized applications (dApps), ensuring compliance with age restrictions while safeguarding user data.
The technology aims to eliminate the need for self-declared age checks or storing sensitive information across multiple platforms. By using ZKPs, users can generate cryptographic proofs of age without revealing underlying identity documents or birth dates.
